ORDINANCE NO. 2004 -9
A GENERAL ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A HAZMAT FUND AND AN
APPROPRIATION TO SPEND MONIES

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GREENCASTLE, INDIANA:
SECTION 1. There is hereby created a non - reverting "HAZMAT Fund." The
fund shall receive monies to be used for the purposes of purchasing HAZMAT
equipment.
(a) The non - reverting HAZMAT Fund shall be established for the
purpose of purchasing HAZMAT equipment for the Greencastle
Fire Department.
(b) All monies collected under this Section shall be transferred to the
Greencastle City Clerk- Treasurer, who shall deposit the said funds
into the proper account. Disbursements of the monies shall be
directed by the Greencastle City Fire Chief, subject to the
appropriation requirement of subparagraph (c). Monies remaining
in the fund at the end of the year shall not revert to any other fund
but shall continue in the HAZMAT Fund.
(c) Monies from this Fund shall be subject to appropriation by the
Greencastle City Common Council.
(d) That said funds, after appropriation, shall be used by the
Greencastle Fire Department for the purpose of purchasing
HAZMAT equipment.
SECTION 2. WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is necessary to
appropriate monies received by the Greencastle Fire Department from the State
Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for the purchase of HAZMAT equipment; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana, that the following fund and sums of money are
hereby appropriated for the purposes specified, subject to the laws goveming the same:
Fund Name: HAZMAT Fund Amount
Major Budget Classification Capital Outlay $ 50,000.00

TOTAL HAZMAT Fund: $ 50,000.00
• SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage and
compliance with Indiana Code 36- 2 -4 -8.
The foregoing was passed by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle at its
