HomeMy Public PortalAboutPAGE 387Regular Meeting October 6, 1953 Regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Harry Kurtz at 8:15 P.M. Members present were: Burman, , urroughs, Galloway, Robinson, ,vidrnaier and Wood. The regular rnintues of September 1st and Special meeting of September 14, were read and approved as read. Robert Anderson was present to discuss the 1953 tax levy compared to the 1952 tax levy. There was much disscussion and then the group retir- ed to let the town board act on this matter. There was also three -busi- ness men present representing the plces that were to prohibitate the sale of beer on Sundays. "idmaier moved: Burroughs seconded: To adopt the proposed ordinance to regulate the sale of beer during week -end, and to title the ordinance as # 114. The vote was six yes and one no. The town received two water reports from the Health Dept. One safe re- port and one unsafe report. The Health dept. was to be contacted and asked to take another sample at the same place where the unsafe water report came from. There was some ci isscuss ion on the policmen's bonds to be taken out for Sherman Woods and Dude Rice. Mr. Brayton drew up two bonds which were valued at it 2500.00 apiece. a-alioway roved: Robinson seconded: To adopt two 2b00.00 policemen's bonds for Sherman Woods and Dude Rice. Motion carried. The acting Clerk read the receipts and disbursements for the month of September 1953. The town received the state ordinance, from the Municipal Lea ue,con- cerning trailer courts and also Ordinances of other towns and how they were set up. This was all tabled until later when it might be of more use. There were two sealed bids received for the sale of three lots south of the pumphouse. Line was from Mrs. Maxine Zohnso n and one from Russell Nelson. Mrs. Johnson's bid was '225.00 for all three lots. Russell Nelson's bid was t1061.00 for all three lots. The bids were than tabled until a future meeting until a definite decision could be reach- ed. Yr. p aid Johnson then presented his idea of what t Ze park could be used for, as a recreational center, for all the people of the town. Tir. Johnson also said -J. yoman's club of the town was interested in building a Tennis Court at this particular spot for the town's people, if the town would donate these lots for for this particular place. This also was tabled until future meeting. There was a lot of disscussion of what could be done with the alley between 1st and2nd street. The clerk was to contact Mr. Moody, county surveyor and ask him to survey this alley for a proper grade and also drainage, both east and west. Burroughs moved: viamaier seconded: To adopt the resolution to set mill levy at 10.80 mill for the year 1954. Motion Carried. Finance Oomittee examined these bills: Weller Lbr.
