CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Greenberg called the Special Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 1976, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall. 2. ROLL CALL: 1 1 7. ADJOURNMENT: Present: Councilmen - Dennis, Gilbertson, Tyrell, Greenberg Absent: Councilmen- Merritt Also Present: City Manager Koski, Assistant City Manager Biel, Parks and Recreation Director Kobett Councilman Gilbertson moved to excuse Councilman Merritt for cause, seconded by Councilman Tyrell and carried. 3. RESOLUTION NO. 76 -1589: WARRANTS & DEMANDS, DEMAND NOS 5255 in the amount of $24,950.59 Councilman Tyrell moved to adopt Resolution No. 76 -1589 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY ALLOWING DEMANDS IN THE SUM OF $24,950.59, DEMAND NOS. 5185 THRU by Councilman Gilbertson and carried. . 5185 thru A RESOLUTION CLAIMS AND 5255, seconded 4. SUBMITTAL OF LOWER AZUSA ROAD UNDER PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYMENT ACT City Manager Koski presented a communication from Supervisor Schabarum advising the County is preparing an application requesting funding under the Local Public Works Capital Development and Investment Program for the improvement of Lower Azusa Road from Camellia Avenue to El Monte Avenue and requesting Council's support. Councilman Tyrell moved to approve the City's supporting the County application and to certify that the right -of -way within Temple City has been acquired, seconded by Councilman Dennis and carried. 5. APPROVAL OF PLANS FOR APPLICATION UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYMENT ACT - TENNIS COURTS AND PRO SHOP - LIVE OAK PARK Following review of the plans for the tennis courts and pro shop at Live Oak Park to be submitted for funding under the Public Works Employment Act, Councilman Gilbertson moved to approve the basic concept drawings subject to the final cost figures to be made available on October 29, 1976, seconded by Councilman Tyrell and carried. 6. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS: A. Councilman Gilbertson requested staff investigate the removal of the parking stall on the north side of Las Tunas Drive immediately east of Encinita Avenue, stating the operator of Temple City Newstand expressed concern regarding its removal in an area that has a limited amount of on- street parking available to the adjacent businesses. B. Council received a staff memo pertaining to the vacancy created by the resignation of the Maintenance Superintendent and outlining certain changes in the recruitment process and salary. On motion by Councilman Gilbertson, seconded by Councilman Tyrell, meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m. Next regular meeting of the City Council will be held Tuesday, November 2, 1976, 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the City Hall.
