HomeMy Public PortalAboutMinutes - 3/5/1973232 The Wellsburg Town Council met in special session on Feb- ruary 27, 1973, at 5:00 P.M. with Mayor Eckhoff presiding and Councilmen Huisman, Hippen, and Heinrich in attendance. Huisman moved and Heinrich seconded the motion to purchase a new John Deere tractor and loader for bid price. Carried. ippen moved and Heinrich seconded adjournment. Carried. 4 Cy Mayorerk pro tem The Wellsburg Town Council met in regular session on March 5, 1973, with Mayor Eckhoff presiding and Council members Huisman, Heinrich, Fairbanks, and Van Deest present. The meeting opened by allowing citizens an opportunity to voice objections/recommendations for the Proposed 1973 Curb and Gutter program for the Town of Wellsburg. One verbal object- ion, pointing out that the street had been in good condition for the past 50 years and should be serviceable for at least an- other five years without curb and gutter, was heard from Julius Zech. A written and signed objection was received from Susie Paterni by Leola Edna Babcock, Power of Attorney. The object- or states that the proposed assessment is greater than 25% of the actual value of her property. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved on a motion by Huisman, seconded by Van Deest. Carried. Van Deest moved and Heinrich seconded that the following claims be allowed for payment: Paul J. Siefken, net salary $447.08 Alfred Krull, net salary 436.32 Henry J. Grobe, net salary 78.51 Banzhaf Roofing & Sheet Metal Co., reroof library building 975.00 Vernon Penning, haul rock 69.60 B & B Auto Service, repairs on ambulance 12.35 Fischer Ins. Agency, insurance premiums & bonds 1672.55 Grundy Center Auto Parts, parts for GMC pick up 40.61 Grundy County Landfill, landfill 204.21 Merle Henriksen, special police duty 10.00 Cliff Sorensen, Jr., special police duty 10.00 United Telephone Co., toll calls 6.51 Iowa Electric Light & Power, utilities 884.19 It was moved by Heinrich, seconded by Fairbanks, to adopt a resolution ordering construction of street improvements with the bid letting to be held April 16, 1973, at 7:30 P.M. Roll call of votes -- Ayes: Van Deest, Heinrich, Huisman, Fairbanks Nays: None Absent: Hippen Carried. The street finance report as prepared by the clerk was approved by resolution on a motion by Heinrich, seconded by Fairbanks. Carried. The meeting stood adjourned following a motion by Van Deest, seconded by Heinrich. Carried. ayor Clerk
