HomeMy Public PortalAboutPAGE 392Regular Meeting March 2, 1954 Regular meeting was called to order at 8:10 P.M. by Mayor Kurtz. Members present were: Burman, Burroughs, Robinson, Widmaier & Wood. Galloway was absent. Minutes of regular meeting of February 2, 1954 and Special meetings of February 11, & February 23, 1954 were read and approved as read. Receipts and Disbursenents of the town for the month of February, 1954 were read. The Town received two safe water sample reports from the wealth Dept. Paul Bechthold was present to show the Town Board a map he was working on, of the streets, boundries, and lots of the Town of Ault. Burroughs moved: Woods seconded: I'o have notice from, Barnard houtchens . Town Attorney, printed. This notice is on violations of the Plumbing Ordinance in the Town of Ault. Motion Carried. Widmaier gave report on the hiring of 3lake Armstrong, as a steady employee of the Town of Ault. Wood moved: Widmaier seconded: To hire Blake Armstrong a s regular Utility man of the Town of Ault for X240.00 per month, as of Larch 1, 1954 and a week's vacatio jor the calenaer year of 1954, and a two week's vacation for every^completed thereafter. Motion Carried. John Burroughs gave a report on the condition of the two pumphouses, at the north end of Torf. The Council then deceided to have the town employee's repair the floors of both pump houses and seal, in such a way as to keep all dirt and materials from falling into the wells. henry Fabrizuis 3.2% Beer License was discussed and the Board approved to have the application signed by the Mayor and Clerk, at the end of a 20 day notice or posting, of the opening of the Fast Pool hall, pro- viding there were no com;laints turned in at the end of this period. The purchasing of land outside city limits, by Romma Dobbs, was con- sidered for tapping, into main water line, and permission gr/ianted, pro- viding a licensed plumber in the Townof Ault, make the tap connection into the main. Tht clerk asked for permission to here -after change all stop ooxes from the open type to an enclosed type, wherever needed or :replace4,.This type of stop box will prevent a lot of corrosion, ana the likb or of having to dig out and replace the old ones. The clerk also asked for permission to purchase a meter test can, to properly test water meters, which in the past have not oeen tested in any way, but only repaired and replaced. . There was some discussion on the charging of a water or meter deposit, here -after for all water connections, for more protection of the Town. Glessner Wood, told the Council he would donate the paint, and super- vise the job, to have the outside front of the Town hall painted, if the Town would hire some one to do the Painting. The Mayor asked the council if a Caution & School sign should not be put in the place of a Stop & School sign at the corner of Ist Avenue and B Street because of heavy farm trucks having to come to a complete stop, with a load, while some cars did not pay any attention to the stop sign at all. This matter was left up to the town employees to change as soon as possibile. Widmaier gave report for Police Committee as follows: Because it was s3 close to election time and a new Town Board will fullfill all appoint- ments, of Town Employee's, the reorganization of a police force was tabled until a later date, at which the new board could deceide on. The Clerk was to write to the Colorado Municipal League and tell them the Town of Ault was very much interested in having Municipal Election's held 5n a Staggard basis, and to also have the League ser4a statement for the 1954 dues whica would be paid on the April Meeting.
