I. Call to Order; Roll Call
Mayor Murray called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM; upon roll by Clerk
Treasurer Lynda Dunbar the following were present: Adam Cohen, Jinsie
Bingham, Mark Hammer, and Phyllis Rokicki. Terry Smith Absent
A. Rod Weinschenk, Parks and Recreation Director — Mr. Weinschenk
provided a hand -out of 2012 List of Accomplishments and 2013 Departmental
Goals. He informed the council that the Aquatic Center will need to undergo
some major repairs so they can open by Memorial Day 2013. The Parks
Department will continue working on ADA requirement. Mr. Weinschenk was
very excited about future of all the Greencastle Parks and it future
improvements.
B. Brad Phillips, Public Works Commissioner — Mr. Phillips distributed to the
council a 2012 year end summary and 2013 goals. He shared that he met all
his goals for 2012. In 2013 the highlights will be the improvement of drainage,
sidewalks, and resurfacing city streets. The department's biggest concern is its
aging equipment.
C. Ernie Phillips, Forest Hill Cemetery Superintendent- Mr. Phillips provided
copies of the cemetery review of 2012 and goals for 2013. Council requested
Mr. Phillips to get prices on grave markers for the children's section. The main
goal for 2013 was to continue its efforts to beautify the cemetery.
D. Bill Newgent, Fire Chief- Chief Newgent gave a presentation entitled "Lesson
Learned for Local Government ". Chief Newgent discussed with the council his
experiences in Henryville and Hurricane Sandy. Discussion was held on how
prepared the City of Greencastle would be in the event of an emergency.
III. Adjournment
Motion was made by Jinsie Bingham to adjourn the meeting at 9:05
