A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING THE ALLOCATLON OF FUNDS UNDER THE FY . 1998-99
SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUNDS BY AB 3229
' - (BRULTE) FOR FRONT LINE LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES IN LYNWOOD.
i ~ WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 3229 directs the California State. Controller to allocate $1D0
f' million appropriated by the Legislature to counties and cities and certain special district for the
7~ support of the Citizen's Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program; ,and
WHEREAS, funds allocated to cities must be used for front line municipal police services
and must supplement and not supplant existing: funding for front line municipal-police services;
and' .
^ WHEREAS; `front line law enforcement services include anti-gang and. community crime
prevention programs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council shall appropriate existing and ~ anticipated .moneys'
exclusively to fund front line municipal police services, in accordance with written requests
submitted by the chief of police of that. city or the chief administrator of .the law enforcement
agency that provides police services for that city; and
WHEREAS, the City Council must conduct a public hearing held :each year to consider
and determine each submitted. request; and
WHEREAS, the City Council conducted a public hearing on September,.15, 1998 pursuant ~.
to the AB 3229 requirements.
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE
' AND ORDER AS FOLLOW: '

SECTION-1. That the City Council close the public hearing on appropriation of: _ ,,
Supplemental-Law Enforcement Services Furid allocated for the City of Lynwood.
. SECTION 2. That the City Council approve the Sheriffs request for appropriation of
Supplemental Law Enforcement ServicesFunds in the amount of $153,000, allocated by AB 3229'-
Brulte for.frorit line law enforcement services in Lynwood as follows:
' Overtime for Sheriff's deputy and supervisory personnel $16,553
• One {1) Deputy Sheriff Generalist 40-hr./week without vehicle $136,447
- .SECTION. 3. That the City Council authorize staff to adjust .(either to reduce or to ~
.increase) the appropriations above to the extent that the estimated allocation is different from the
actual allocation provided by the County.
SECTION 4. ' That the. City Council direct the Director of Finance to establish a
. Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund for deposit of funds received from the county and
authorizes the appropriation of these funds for the above items.
SECTION 5. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. .
