RESOLUTION 79-11
; iERE'AS the children of Orono School Dist 278 constitute its most
precious resource, and
riEREAS, the critical significance of the care and experiences of
children from infancy through their early school years is
increasingly recognized, and
WHEREAS, by birth every child in this nation is entitled to respect
for himself -- "as and for what he is";
To love, security and encourage -Went from a stable home;
To health and nutrition to insure his optimal physical and
mental development;
To protection from physical dangers and moral hazards by a
community which plans for its children's needs;
To programs which stimulate and facilitate
fullest intellectual development -- which
interest to experiment and discover things
other people and the ever broadening world
move;

To concern stimulation and guidance from all adults in their
lives -- their parents, their teachers and others competent,
sensitive and supportive in their roles.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Thomas Anderson
of Medina
Mayor of the City

, do hereby designate April 2 - 8,
"THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD"
in Medina
1979
and urge all citizens to renew their
efforts to learn about „young children and programs serving them.
