RESOLUTION NO. 06 -4420
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE
CITY ESTABLISHING VEHICLE IMPOUND COST RECOVERY FEE
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department impounds and stores vehicles from within
the incorporated area of the City of Temple City; and
WHEREAS, all cost's related to the impounding of said vehicles is incurred by the City and paid for
through the existing law enforcement contract services; and
WHEREAS, the City Council on the 6th day of October 1992 adopted Resolution No. 92 -3187
creating a vehicle impound cost;recovery fee; and
WHEREAS, the City -has established a method for determining the reasonable cost associated with
impounding vehicles, whichsioe: not exceed the estimated cost for providing such services; and
WHEREAS, the vehicle impound cost recovery fee is adjusted annually in accordance with the
established method for estimating the cost for providing vehicle impound services;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City does hereby resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The existing vehicle impound cost recovery fee shall be increased from $84.00 to
$88.00 effective July 1, 2006.
SECTION 2. The fee shall be applicable to the release of all vehicles impounded within the
incorporated area of the City of Temple City under the following conditions:
a. Abandoned vehicles
b. Hazardous vehicles
c. Unregistered vehicles
d. Vehicles operated by unlicensed drivers
e. Vehicles with five or more outstanding parking violation citations
f. Vehicles obstructing public right -of -way or access to private property
SECTION 3. The Sheriffs Department shall be responsible for all vehicles impound reports, release
forms, fee collections, and receipts. Fees shall be collected prior to the release of any vehicle subject to the
service charge, and the Sheriffs Department shall remit all monies collected to the City's Finance
Department on a weekly basis.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
