APPROVING CHANGE ORDER No. 1
T. SLACK ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES/CARTERET DPW
. REMEDIAL ACfION WORK
(
\VHEREAS, the Goveming Body of the Borough of Carteret has previously awarded a
contract to T. Slack Environmental Services in the amount of$118,540.00 for Carteret
DP~VRel11edial Action Work; and
\VHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer for the project, CME.Associates, has
advised the Goveming Body that a modification of the contract is reasonable and
qecessary and has recommended that the aforesaid contract be modified in accordance
with Contract 'cIlange Order No.1 (see attached); and
'VHEREAS, Change Order No.1 includes a change in the description of work to increase
quantittes to reflect as-built conditions, and to provide for cCliain supplementary items;
and
'VHEREAS, Change Order No.. 1 provides fo.r a net increase in the cantract price in the
amount of$24,582.14, resulting in a reviscd contract price of$143,122.14 including all
previausly approved change arders; an<;l
\VHEREAS, the Barough's Cansulting Engineer, T & M Assaciates has advised that the
abave.described changes and/or madificatio.ns to. the project were unforeseen at the time
of the award afthe ariginal cantract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
af Carteret as folla\vs:
I. That the Contract Change Order No. I attached hereto and made a part
hereaf, resulting in anet increase af$24,582.14, and resulting in a revised
contract price of$143,122.14 is hereby approved.
2. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby autharized to. execute
Change Order No.. 1 based upan the recammen.datian afthe Baraugh
Engi.neer.
3. That the Barough Purchasing Department is hereby autharized to. issue
payment pursuant to. Payment Certificatian No.. 1 and Final (see attached).
4. A capy afthisreso.lutio.n and a fully executed capy o.f,Change Order No.. 1 '
be farwarded to. CME Asso.ciates fo.r distributian to. T. Slack
Environmental.

Change Order No. 1
Our File: H-CA-00500-01
Dear Mayor Reiman and Council Members:
For your consideration, attached please find proposed Change Order No.1 for the
above-referenced project. The change order includes additional and suppiemental work
ordered and required for the removal of additional contaminated soil encountered during
excavation of the Area of Concern (AOC).
The deleted contingent quantities were not required. The supplemental work for removal
of additional non-hazardous contaminated soil and other associated work is a result of
the area of contamination exceeding the limit anticipated by our office which is typical for
this type of remediation project.
This change order will result in an increase of the original contract price in the amount of
$24,582.14 for a new total of $143,122.14. The supplemental work, in our opinion could
not have reasonably been effectuated by a separately bid contract without unduly
disrupting the basic work, or without imposing adverse cost consequences on the
Borough.
