RESOLUTION NO. 06 -4444
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY RESTRICTING PARKING OF OVERSIZED
VEHICLES ON PUBLIC STREETS AND ESTABLISHING A FEE
FOR THE ISSUANCE OF THE OVERSIZED VEHICLE
PARKING PERMIT
WHEREAS, the City of Temple City has received complaints regarding the stopping and parking of
oversized vehides on residential and other City streets; and,
WHEREAS, the long -term parking of oversized vehides creates a safety hazard for both motorists and
pedestrians -as these tend to block lines of sight, impair motorist and pedestrian visibility and reduce the travel
widths along City streets; and,
WHEREAS, the long -term parking of oversized vehides degrades the aesthetic appearance of the
City's streetscape and interferes with routine street sweeping; and,
WHEREAS, Division 11, Chapter 9, Section 22507, subsection "A" of the California
Vehicle Code authorizes local authorities to prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing
of vehicles on certain streets or portions thereof, during all or certain hours of the day; and,
WHEREAS, Division 11, Chapter 10, Section 22651(n) of the California Vehicle Code
authorizes local authorities to remove vehicles whenever a vehicle is parked or left standing in
violation of a properly adopted and posted restriction on parking; and,
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple City hereby resolves and directs as
follows:
SECTION 1: No person shall park, or leave standing on any public street, alley or right of way in
the City any oversized vehicle without displaying a valid oversized vehicle temporary parking permit.
SECTION 2: The oversized vehicle must be parked on the street immediately adjacent
to the property upon which the person requesting the permit resides.
SECTION 3: The City Manager is hereby authorized to erect or install signs at the city
limits, as well as other appropriate locations as determined by the Traffic Engineer. The content
of the signs will be as follows: "Oversized Recreational Vehicle Parking Prohibited Upon Any
Street, Except By Special Permit — Tow Away, 3337.1 TCMC ".
SECTION 4: Permits shall be obtained at the Public Services Department of City Hall
during regular business hours and at the Temple Sheriff's Station after regular business hours,
weekends and holidays. A ten - dollar ($10.00) fee, per day, for all permits shall be paid to cover
the costs in preparing and issuing permits.
SECTION 5: Vehicles parked in violation of the above regulations are subject to citation
and /or removal.
SECTION 6: Violation of the parking restrictions imposed by this Resolution shall subject
violators to the sanctions provided in applicable Federal, State, and Local law, and the Los
Angeles County Sheriff's Department, or any other duly authorized law enforcement personnel, is
hereby authorized to issue citations or take other lawful action to enforce this Resolution.
SECTION 7: The City Manager may suspend enforcement of the provisions of this
resolution for any period of time as the City Manager may, in good judgment determine is
necessary for the efficient administration of the City.
SECTION 8: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
