RE: Crestview Well No. 9
COR 1002-009 - Add Underground Sch 40 PVC Discharge Line from
Bldg to Precast Box in Swale
Speegle Construction, Inc. respectfully submits the attached the following estimate associated with providing conveyance of water
from the discharge line, which is currently stubbed outside of the pump house to the swale. Scope of work is to provide an 8" Sch 40
PVC line from the building to a concrete structure in the Swale. This discharge line will be turned down from it's existing point using a
DIP 90, then transitioning to Sch 40 PVC and going below grade, then turning towards the swale using a Sch 40 90. Four (4) Sch 40
45 degree bends have been included in order to angle towards the swale (while avoiding the splashblock) and to to allow for the swale
slope. The concrete structure will be a 2'x2'x3' deep precast unit with non -traffic rated grate as well as a "sump" in the bottom to allow
for drainage of standing water. This structure will be placed on a bed of 57 stone, which will serve as both a foundation for the
structure as well as provide drainage underneath the sump (which will be filled with washed gravel). The top of the grate will be set
such that the east and west sides will be 12" above the ground (i.e. flush with the 12" thick rip rap). The filter cloth below the rip rap
will be toed -in 12" deep on all sides of the structure. Also included are provisions to reconfigure the air release valve PVC piping to
penetrate the CMU wall; a credit for the use of a 1/4" sensing line (in lieu of 1/2"); and the electrical costs associated with upgrading
the chlorine booster pump. This estimate is based on our best understanding of the changes that are necessary to complete the
scope of work. In the event that additional work is required due to unforseen conditions or impacts to other systems, Speegle reserves
the right to revisit this estimate. This estimate does not include any provisions for additional time which may be required due to long
lead times on the precast structure and PVC materials package. If the procurement of these items results in the necessity for a time
extension, Speegle reserves the right to request such time and fully expects that such time will be granted.
Total estimate: $ 5,106
Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Dan Carruth at

Here is a change order to add a hard pipeline for the well pump -off discharge, plus a couple
small items to adjust the contract. The plans did not show a pump -off line in them, so we had
to discuss this in our last meeting and decide on what to do. I have attached some additional
paperwork to show the decision process.
If there are any questions, let me know. Please process this to Ms. Roy.

We choose Option A— buried PVC pipe to box located in the rip -rap area.
You need to cut a hole through the bottom of the concrete box so water can freely drain out and not sit in it, draw
mosquitoes.
Place stone under it to facilitate support and drainage through the hole (typical drainage design).

Subject: Well No. 9 Pump Off
Fred, as a follow up to our meeting last week, we requested that Speegle provide two estimates to add piping to the
project to direct the well pump off discharge away from the north side of the building. Option A is for about $5000
and includes buried pvc piping from the building to the swale with a discharge via a bubble -up structure in the swale
or discharge from the pipe to the tank overflow flume. Option B for about $4000 includes ductile iron pipe fittings, a
quick connect adapter, and flex hose that could be connected and routed to the swale or simply onto the asphalt
parking lot to sheet flow down to the swale. Option B is higher than I quoted on the phone yesterday because I
wasn't thinking about the costs for the fittings but $700 would be deducted from the $4700 cost (see their footnote
#2) to get to the $4000.
We are currently $20k below the contract amount City Council approved for this project (we're $80k below budget if
you include the $60k for well casing approved by Council).
I'm attaching some correspondence from Speegle for your information.
Speegle would like some direction on this matter as soon as we can provide.

Dear Sir,
RE: Crestview Well No. 9
COR 1002-009 - Add Underground Sch 40 PVC Discharge Line from
Bldg to Precast Box in Swale (Option A) OR Add Flexible Discharge
Hose (Option B)
Speegle Construction, Inc. respectfully submits the attached two change order proposal options (Option A and Option B) associated
with providing conveyance of water from the discharge line, which is currently stubbed outside of the pump house to the swale.
Option A is to provide an 8" Sch 40 PVC line from the building to a concrete structure in the swale. This discharge line will be turned
down from it's existing point using a DIP 90, then transitioning to Sch 40 PVC and going below grade, then turning towards the swale
using a Sch 40 90. Three (3) Sch 40 45 degree bends have been included in order to angle towards the swaie and to to allow for the
swale slope. The concrete structure will be a 2'x2'x3' deep precast unit with non -traffic rated grate as well as a "sump" in the bottom to
allow for drainage of standing water. This structure will be placed on a bed of 57 stone, which will serve as both a foundation for the
structure as well as provide drainage underneath the sump. We assume that the top of the grate will be approximately 6" above the rip
rap. Option B is to furnish a flexible hose to the Owner for future connection to a "Quick -Connect" coupling, which will be attached to
a DIP 45 bend and 8" spool piece which will be oriented towards the ground at 45 degrees to result in the hose connection point at or
very close to ground level to decrease chances of kinking in the hose. A gravel bed will be provided underneath this connection point
to provide for drainage of water during the use of the discharge line and also an 18x18 concrete pad for support. Both options will
result in the 8" 90 bend extending out beyond the roof line. Both Options also include provisions for the air release valve PVC piping to
penetrate the CMU wall; a credit for the use of a 1/4" sensing line (in lieu of 1/2"); and the electrical costs associated with upgrading
the chlorine booster pump. This estimate is based on our best understanding of the changes that are necessary to complete the
scope of work. In the event that additional work is required due to unforseen conditions or impacts to other systems, Speegle reserves
the right to revisit this estimate.
Total estimate for Option A: $ 5,150
Total estimate for Option B: $ 4,772
Additional Options:
1. - If 8" Ductile Iron Pipe is preferred in lieu of Sch 40 PVC, add $3,610.00 to Option A total.
2. - If 8" spool piece and 8" 45 are not necessary, deduct $780.00 from Option B total.
Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Dan Carruth at
850-729-2484 or email dcarruth@speegleconstruction.com
