Watertown Electricity Choice
Climate change is considered to be a health and safety issue.
Massachusetts is planning for extreme weather events, and actively
pursuing reductions in green house gas emissions.
Watertown Electricity Choice offers Watertown the largest potential
reduction in Green House Gas emissions of any projects to date.
Each 1 % additional renewable energy in residential electricity supply
reduces our GHG emissions by 470 tons CO2e per year.
• This is equivalent to the tailpipe emissions from 1 ,041 ,474 miles
driven by the average car (per EPA)

An aggregation program design of this type could result in:
50% renewable electrical supply
(State mandated 15% plus 35% additional)
Reduction in Green House Gas emissions over 16,000 tons CO2e per year
For comparison - the Town has reduced Municipal GHG emission 22%
from FY10 for a 1 ,473 tons per year reduction.
Drives additional renewable generation in our area.
Slight (but not guaranteed) savings to the residents.
