• New Business
a. Bandshell issues/repairs-GKR informed the board the bandshell roof is leaking significantly and need to be
repaired.Contractor is no longer in business,so an alternative plan will be put into place.Mayor Dory indicated
the City has insurance,but the deductible is somewhat substantial,so paying the cost of the repairs may be the
best option.DH asked if it would be prudent to look into doing something preventative...to get us through the
summer season.Hopefully the project would be no more than a 2-3-day project,which could be scheduled
between various park events.
• Special events/Old business
a. Park House bid process ongoing.The specifications are in City Hall,waiting to be ok'd and then distributed.The specs
should be reviewed and a successful contractor will be selected at the June meeting.The specs call for the project to
be completed by June 30,2023.
b. Five-Year Master Plan-first steering committee meeting took place April 25 in City Hall.A stakeholder meeting is
scheduled for May 10 at Ivy Tech.Representatives from various groups have been invited to the meeting:youth
baseball,youth soccer,youth softball,Greencastle School District,Civic League,Friends of the Park,Disc Golf,
Pickleball.
c. Naming rights process:information has been circulated,via Eric Bernsee's article in the Banner Graphic.GKR
anticipates presenting applications for Naming Rights at the June meeting.
• Director's report
a. Summer programs and events are fast approaching.SPARK,Police Boot Camp,Swim Lessons are filling up.The pool is
filled and the water is warming up daily.DH asked about creating some sort of recognition for Paul and Mary
Bretscher and their wonderful gift towards swim lessons. New pool passes with barcodes are being made for the
summer.Five trees were planted April 28 in recognition of Arbor Day.Girl Scout Troop 654 assisted in the planting.
The Ethan's Legacy Project planted one of the trees as well. GKR mentioned in the event the road construction is a
hindrance later this summer,a contingency plan will be put in place to move Celebrate 4 to Big Walnut Sports Park.
Bloomington Street construction,at least this phase,is to be completed by June 15.
• Mayor Dory provided an update on the two grants which are still to be completed this year and next.The process is
moving along.
