Hotaling, Chairman of local civil defense program reported on the state con--
vents n in Colorado Springs. He stated that Colorado is lag,;ing with cooperation
but expressed hope that with the pattern now ser for a shelter program utilizing
public buildings and with an educational Program Colorado may soon rank with other
states in Preparedness.
Reports from all council members on t h e paving surveys showed that almost all
property owners want paving and the majority of those that have been contacted have
indicated that they will bay cash.

Seconded by Loewen to rehire David J. Babcock as night marshal to June 1 only.
Written notice of discharge, signed by the Mayor to be mailed to him. Final pay
to be held until all city property accounted for. Roll call. Carried. Moved by
Wykert, Seconded by Snow to reappoint Burroughs as police magistrate. Roll call.

Special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Ault celled to order
by Mayor H. E. Robinson. Members present: Allison, Galloway, Loewen, Prange and
Snow. , jkert Absent. Also present were Paul McClure and James P. Johnson.
Dog leash ordinance 137 passed on second rearing by notion of Snow, Seconded
Allison. Roll ball. Carried.
Curb and -Gutter ordinance No. 138 and special ordinance creating Ault Paving
District 9 1 passed on first reading.
Reports from the board members concerning canvass of pro merty owners on question
of paving presented. Not all owners have been contacted.
Galloway, for police committee, reported an intrview with James Cavender,
applicant for position of night marshal. Moved by Allison, Seconded by Snow that
Cavender be hired on a trial basis as of June 1. Roll call. Carried.
Estimates of cost of replacing water mains on A and B. streets and on Second
and Third streets presented by McClure. Moved by Allison, Seconded by Pr ng e that
a bond'issue, presently estimated at $20,000 be arranged. Said bonds to be retired
over a period of 10 years. Roll call. Carried.
Moved by Prange, Seconded by Galloway that McClure prepare specifications
rreoaratory to publishin �; for bids on materials and, labor proposals by next week.
Said specifications to include a 2" line on Second Ave. for a distance of 200 feet
south of Second street. Roll call. Ce,rried..
