HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 06-10 McCall Senior Center federal transit administration section 5310 grantRESOLUTION 06-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF McCALL, IDAHO, REGARDING THE SUBMISSION OF A FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION SECTION 5310 GRANT THROUGH THE IDAHO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, PROVIDING FOR RELATED MATTERS, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to support efforts that promote facility and infrastructure improvements that benefit the citizens and visitors of McCall; and WHEREAS, the McCall Senior Center is a facility owned by the City of McCall; and WHEREAS, the McCall Senior Citizens, Inc. operate nutrition, social, educational, recreational and transportation programs that benefit area senior citizens in the McCall Senior Center; and WHEREAS, the transportation program requires the use of a bus that is housed at the McCall Senior Center; and WHEREAS, the existing carport does not allow adequate access by elderly and disabled persons to the bus as determined by an architectural review in March, 2005; and WHEREAS, the Federal Transit Administration provides funding for the construction or remodeling of structures that house vehicles designed to transport elderly and disabled persons through the Section 5310 Elderly and Persons with Disabilities grant program; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the carport remodeling is $36,000; and WHEREAS, the Section 5310 grant program will provide funding for 92% of the remodeling costs; and WHEREAS, there are matching requirements of 8% for the City of McCall to participate in such grant project for an estimated $2880 in program year 2007; and WHEREAS, the City of McCall certifies that it has the legal authority to apply for such federal funding and agrees to comply with all federal rules for contracting, auditing, and financial management of funds, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council of the City of McCall, Valley County, Idaho hereby support and endorse the participation of the City of McCall in the submission of a Federal Transit Administration Section 5310 Elderly and Persons with Disabilities grant for the remodeling of the carport at the McCall Senior Citizens Center.
