Lawn, Jr., District D Councilor Watertown Town Council Administration Building 149 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472 Phone: 617-972-6470 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: Edythe (Fairbanks) Pane was born on June 6, 1910 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Dr. Arthur Fairbanks and Edythe (Clarke) Fairbanks. The Fairbanks' family were descendants from England; primarily cabinet makers who settled in Dedham. Their family home still stands in Dedham as a historical landmark having the honor of being the oldest wooden structure in our country; and, WHEREAS: Edythe graduated from Wellesley College with an art degree and was offered a dress designing position in New York City. She turned down the offer in order to marry the love of her life, Philip Pane; and, WHEREAS: Edythe and Phil married on August 17, 1940 in Somerville, Massachusetts and have 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, with another on the way! NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown hereby extends their heartfelt congratulations to Edythe upon her 100th birthday and wish her many more years of health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown hereby proclaim June 6, 2010 as Edythe Pane Day and call upon its citizenry to rejoice in the milestone.
