Home My Public Portal About20090612 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 12, 2009 1 CALL TO ORDER The June 12, 2009, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by President Pro Tempore Mike Harvey in the absence of Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Carroll, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Medin, Penfold, and Struemph Arrived late: Scrivner ( *arrived at 12:10 P.M.,) Absent: Ferguson and Pope DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Presentations from Staff, Consultants, and Invited Guests: JCTV - Councilwoman Carrie Carroll asked City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus to explain where citizens can view JCTV on the new digital channels. The Council asked if Mr. Nickolaus could also explain the issue at Monday night's Council meeting under "Presentations from Staff and Invited Guests." *Councilman Bob Scrivner arrived at this point in the meeting (12:10 P.M.) Prison Hard Hat Tours - Assistant to the City Administrator Melva Fast stated that Steve Picker would like to make a presentation Monday night regarding the status of "Hard Hat" tours of the old prison site. EQC Award - Melva Fast stated that the Environmental Quality Commission recently received an award and she would like to make a brief presentation regarding that award on Monday night. BILLS 2009 -40 (Establishing Annexation Committee) - Councilwoman Carrie Carroll stated she will be placing this on the Informal Calendar when it comes before the Council for a vote at the July 6 meeting to allow the Administration Committee to discuss it further. 2009 -20 (Supplemental Appropriation in Parking Fund) -the substitute bill needs to also be amended to show the correct fund in Section 1 as well as the title. City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus stated this could be done by a second substitute to distribute after the COUNCIL WORK SESSION JUNE 12, 2009 2 Brown Bag. 2009 -23 (Sewer Rate Change) - Pat Sullivan stated this will need to be placed on the Informal Calendar so the public hearing can occur on June 30. 2009 -38 and 2009 -39 (SSM Hwy. 179 Interchange) - City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus advised these are still being finalized and suggested that they be placed on the Informal Calendar Monday night. RS2009 -7 (trash and recycling carts) - Councilman Jim Penfold stated he will be offering a motion to amend to clarify who will be receiving the small carts. RS2009 -8 (Sidewalk Waiver at Command Web) - Councilman Jim Penfold stated he will be offering a motion to amend by removal of the 4th "Whereas" clause which states, in essence, that "The Council has determined sidewalks are not needed" at the Command Web location.
