SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
November 26, 2014
Mayor Blum called the Special Meeting to order at 7:06a.m.
2. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Councilmember-Vizcarra, Chavez, Blum
ABSENT: Councilmember-Sternquist, Yu

ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Cook, Deputy City Clerk Bonus, and Public
Safety Supervisor Ariizumi

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. RADAR ENFORCEMENT TRAINING
Update regarding the status of training Temple City patrol deputies in radar
speed enforcement.
Sergeant Mirand a provided an update regarding the status of training Temple
City patrol deputies in radar speed enforcement.
Action: Received report.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. CASE UPDATE: JUNE 2013 LOWER AZUSA BURGLARIES
Update regarding the prosecution status of the suspect.
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding the prosecution of a suspect
June 2013 on Lower Azusa burglaries .
Action: Received report .

6. COMMUNICATIONS
A. QUALITY OF LIFE
Mayor Pro Tem Chavez requested info rmat io n regard ing the consistency of
the statistics when compared to previous years .
Sergeant M iranda stated that the information is consistent with prev1ous
years.
B. OPERATIONS
Sergeant Miranda provided a summary of operations.
Mayor Pro Tem Chavez requested the Sheriffs direct the transients towards
the organizations that can provide shelter and food.
C. TRAFFIC ISSUES
Sergeant Miranda provided an update of traffic issues and operations in the
City.
Mayor Blum requested a status update regarding the crime on Rosemead
Boulevard since the improvements made.
D. CRIME AND TRAFFIC TRENDS
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding Crime and Traffic Trends in
the City.
Captain Jacob requested information regarding the use of the City's volunteer
program to help provide flyers educating residems on how to take preventive
measures against crime during the holidays.
Mayor Blum requested staff to provide a list in City Hall for people who would
like to volunteer in the City.
E. PUBLIC 'OUTREACH I EVENTS
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding the outcome of the
Neighborhood Watch Area 10 meeting, Halloween Carnival , school safety
presentations, and Temple City's Woman's Club presentation.

Mayor Blum encouraged the use the City's programs (e.g., Cable T.V.,
Connect Magazine, Nixie, etc.) to reach out and send reminders to the
residents.
F. NOTABLE ARRESTS
Sergeant Miranda provided an update regarding the notable arrests in the
City.
Councilmember Vizcarra requested information regarding the general location
of the arrests.
G. CRIME AND TRAFFIC SAT ISTICS
Mayor Pro Tern Chavez requested information regarding response times from
the Fire Department and Paramedic.
H. UPCOMING EVENTS FOR DECEMBER 2014
City Manager Cook discussed the use of an Officer during scheduled
meetings with items that may attract a large volume of crowds or aggressive
persons.
