3. CONTINUED BUSINESS
The Comm ission finalized its desired direction for a new mural at Temple City
Library, wh ich included a listing of possible themes for artist exploration , as well as
a desired approach for artwork composition. Attachment A provides details of that
direction.
The Commission also requested the City coordinate discussions with muralist Art
Mortimer to define an artwork commission contract for subsequent Council
approval, including finalization of scope specifics as it relates to artist availability,
project timing and phasing, number of preliminary concepts and final pricing.
Furthermore, the Commission moved , by general consensus , that exploratory
discussion w ith Mortimer be conducted if and once Council approves his contract.
4. REPORTS FROM CITY STAFF
Tentative information was provided on the Commission's invitation to the City's
upcoming holiday party/employee recognition dinner.
5. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
Vice-Chair Keel in requested a review of proposed identification plaques for newly
installed artworks on Rosemead Boulevard, including narrative text and use of the
City logo. The Commission moved not to explore modification of the Counc i l-
approved logo, and removed the graphic from the City's art identification plaque
template . The body also requested subsequent presentation of a sample plaque
policy to assess its desired level of involvement in the review of such plaques.
CONCLUSION:
The Council is requested to review and file this report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The recommended actions present no fiscal impact to the FY 2014-15 City Budget.
