Woodland, District D Councilor Watertown Town Council Administration Building 149 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472 Phone: 617-972-6470 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: The Town of Watertown dedicated the Soldiers' Monument in Saltonstall Park on October 31, 1889; and, WHEREAS: The Soldiers' Monument has stood for 124 years in honor of the citizens of Watertown who served in the Civil War; and, WHEREAS: The Historical Society of Watertown has organized to raise funds from the residents of Watertown to implement substantial repairs and conservation of the memorial; and, WHEREAS: The Soldiers' Monument has been restored and Saltonstall Plaza has been upgraded; and, WHEREAS: The Town of Watertown wishes to recognize and show its support for the rededication of the Soldiers' Monument; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown, proclaims November 11, 2013 SOLDIERS' MONUMENT DAY and urges all residents of Watertown to join in the celebration of the rededication of the memorial.
