PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM DATE: April 7, 2015 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Bryan Cook, City Manager By: Cathy Burroughs , Director of Parks and Recreation ~ SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF MARCH 18,2015 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of March 18, 2015 . BACKGROUND: On March 18, 2015 , the Parks and Recreation Commission held thei r regularly scheduled meeting . ANALYSIS : Following is a summary of actions taken at the March 18 , 2015 Parks and Recreation Commiss ion meeting: 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Georgi no , Vice-Chairman Rosso , Chairman Haddad Absent: Commissioner-None Excused : Commissioner -Lopez 2 . CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Re creation Commission approved the minutes from their Regular Meeting of February 18 , 2015 and received and filed the monthly report for February 2015 . City Council April 7 , 2015 Page 2 of 2 3. NEW BUSINESS A. REVIEW OF LIVE OAK PARK AND TEMPLE CITY PARK FACILITY MASTER PLANS The Commission received a presentation from Community Works Design Group (CW DG ) on the draft Master Plans for Live Oak Park and Temple City Park . After public input and discussion , the Commission approved , in concept, the Master Plan for Temple City Park pending receipt and approval of the cost estimates and phasing plan from CWDG . The Commission continued discussion on th e Live Oak Park Master Plan requesting modifications to the proposed plan and additional information from CWDG. 4. MA TIERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS A. The Commission received and filed the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for March 2015. 5. COMMISSION ITEMS SEPARATE FROM THE REGULAR AGENDA A. Commissioner Georgina requested consideration of a Senior Citizen Master Plan . With th e aging population expected to increase over the next 20 years , she felt a Master Plan would assist the City in meeting the needs of older residents and engage them in civic life . The Comm iss ion will disc uss this recommendation at a future meeting . CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to receive and fil e this report . FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2014-15 City Budget.
