HomeMy Public PortalAboutMISC - 1961 - COLORADO STATE GRANTS TO PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES"Colorado State Grants to Public Libraries" At the last session of the State Legislature, an appropriation of $100,0uu.u0 was voted for the benefit of all Libraries,large and small if certain re- quirements can be met. This is Known as: State Grants to Public Libraries and if benefit is to be received from tnis fund, application must be made by July 15th. 19b1. There are three basic requirements i,o be eligible for snaring this Grant -in - Aid: Tnat the local library receive support either by mill levy(l mills on valuation) or appropriation equivalent to at least 75¢ per capita based on population. Ault' s population about ouU. (b) That a Library Board of at least five members be appointed by the Mayor and approved by the town board. (c) Tnat some specific project be named for using this grant if forth coming, it may be used for anything except purcnasing lots, retiring old debts and other similar restrictions. The first year if granted, the Aid will notb.ess than 12ou.uu to be in- creased as time goes on.Tne first requirement (a) has been met since the the local library does receive the equivalent of 750 per capita from the Town Board.. (b) A library board of five members witn a term of office of five years is submitted to the Town Board for approval if the Mayor makes the appointment. (c) Many projects are under consideration, 4 decision will will be reached before July 15th.
