AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 8 -45 AND 8 -47 OF THE
GREENCASTLE CITY CODE REGARDING LEASED PARKING SPACES
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of constructing a paved parking lot at the comer of
Indiana Street and Walnut Street, hereinafter referred to as the Walnut Street Municipal Parking Lot;
WHEREAS, the City has recently constructed a paved parking lot at the comer of Indiana
Street and Columbia Street, hereinafter referred to as the Columbia Street Municipal Parking Lot;
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide leased parking spaces at both lots;
WHEREAS, there has been no increase in leased parking fees since 1998; and
WHEREAS, an increase in said fees helps to defray the increasing costs of construction,
maintenance and repairs to the parking lots.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that
it hereby amends Section 8 -45 of the Greencastle City Code to add the following locations:
® Walnut Street Municipal Parking Lot on the southeast comer of Walnut Street and Indiana
Street (twelve spaces as designated by the City); and
Columbia Street Municipal Parking Lot on the northeast corner of Indiana Street and
Columbia Street.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that:
1. It hereby amends subsection 8 -47 b. of the Greencastle City Code to read as follows:
b. The fee and time period leased for a leased parking space is as follows:
1. One (1) month lease - $25.00
2. One (1) year lease- $250.00
The space is leased from 6:00 a.m. until 6 :00 p.m. each day. All other
times, the space is open to the public.
2. All references to the "Clerk - Treasurer" in Section 8 -47 of the Greencastle City Code shall
be replaced with the "Parking Violations Officer or his /her designee."
® All other terms and conditions contained in Sections 8 -45 and 8 -47 of the Greencastle City Code
which are not inconsistent herewith shall remain in full force and effect.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage of the Greencastle Common
Council and its approval by the Mayor, and spaces shall be available for lease in each individual lot
once construction is complete and proper marking and signage has been completed.
