SELECTION OF PRESIDING OFFICER FOR MEETING
Councilman Eric Struemph nominated Councilman Dan Klindt to preside at today's meeting
in the absence of both Mayor John Landwehr and President Pro Tempore Mike Harvey,
seconded by Councilman Ron Medin, and approved unanimously.
CALL TO ORDER
The August 14, 2009, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:03 P.M. by elected
presiding officer Councilman Dan Klindt.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened:
Present: * *Carroll (arrived at 12:08 PM), Klindt, Koon, Medin, Penfold, Scrivner,
*Pope (arrived at 12:04 PM), and Struemph
Absent: Harvey and Ferguson
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
PRESENTATIONS FROM STAFF, CONSULTANTS, AND INVITED GUESTS:
Assistant to the City Administrator Melva Fast stated that Cole County Health Nurse, Jane
Hubbs, has indicated she will be unable to attend the meeting on August 17, and requested
to postpone her presentation to the September 8 meeting.
*Councilman Bryan Pope arrived at this point in the meeting.
BILLS:
2009 -59 (City / County Projects) - Councilman Bryan Pope asked staff to check whether
the County and City planned to split the cost of the stub road on the Hwy. 179 SSM project.
* *Councilwoman Carrie Carroll arrived at this point in the meeting.
2009 -60:
Councilwoman Carrie Carroll stated that since she will be absent from the September 8
meeting at which this issue would be voted, she will place it on the Informal Calendar tonight

when it is introduced so she can vote on the bill at the September 14 meeting.
RESOLUTIONS:
City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus and Finance Director Steve Schlueter were asked to
provide the Council some history of this issue before Monday night's meeting.
