A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 2486 (WASHINGTON), PUBLIC
LIBRARIES: RESOURCES FOR YOUTH
WHEREAS, it is the goal of the City Council to create and maintain awell-
informed community; and
WHEREAS, public libraries strive to meet the informational, educational and
recreational needs of a fiighly diverse public; and .
WHEREAS, existing law authorizes the State Librarian to employ,a consultant to
provide technical assistance to public libraries in the development and enhancement of
library services to children and youth; and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2486 would direct the State Librarian to award grants
on a competitive basis to public libraries for the support of Youth Development and
Mentoring programs in the public libraries; and
WHEREAS,. Assembly Bill 2486 would appropriate $2.4 million dollars from the
State General fund for the above purpose;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE,
DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOW:
SECTION 1. ,That the City Council supports Assembly Bill 2486. (Washington).
SECTION 2. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon-its adoption.
