HomeMy Public PortalAbout20091030 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION OCTOBER 30, 2009 1 CALL TO ORDER The October 30, 2009, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Carroll, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Penfold, Pope, and Struemph Absent: Ferguson, Medin, and Scrivner, A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Presentations from Staff, Consultants, and Invited Guests Allied Waste update - Mayor John Landwehr asked staff to ask Rick Graham to give a detailed list of what is, and what is not, acceptable to place in the recycle bins. He asked that we get it in written format so it could be made available in several venues, like the City's website, handouts at City Hall, etc. He also stated that staff is currently developing a list of citizens that would be considered unable to pay for the trash services in the event the City may wish to help fund some of the cost for the trash services for those citizens. BILLS: 2009 -94 (Southside TIF Plan) - Councilwoman Carrie Carroll and Councilman Ron Medin wish to be added as cosponsors on that bill. 2009 -96 (Sublease for Amtrak facility) - Councilman Jim Penfold asked staff to clarify the issue of paragraph #8 regarding "hazardous materials." 2009 -97 (Sidewalk Moratorium) - Mayor John Landwehr suggested the Council consider making the moratorium six months rather of 18 months. Councilman Jim Penfold asked for a list of businesses who found it to be too cost prohibitive to put in sidewalks. Councilman Eric Struemph stated several of those businesses would be at the November 16 Council meeting. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 12:32 P.M.
