HomeMy Public PortalAbout1981-013Member gei6o its adoption: introduced the following resolution and moved CITY OF MEDINA Resolution No. W_/,3 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, RATIFYING ADVERTISE- MENTS FOR BIDS, AND ACCEPTING BID FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF SIDEWALKS IN THE HAMEL AREA, CITY OF MEDINA WHEREAS, pursuant to a resolution passed by the City Council on October 7, 1980, McCombs Knutson and Associates, Inc., the con- sulting engineer retained for that purpose, has prepared plans and specifications for the improvement, consisting of the construc- tion and repair of sidewalks in the Hamel area which lie adjacent to both sides of Hamel Road from Brockton Lane to Hunter Drive, and has presented such plans and specifications to the City Council for approval; and WHEREAS, such plans and specifications, a copy of which attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, have previous- ly been approved by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has prepared and caused to be inserted in the Official Newspaper, an advertisement for bids upon the mak- ing of the said improvement according to the approved plans and specifications, said advertisement having been published for days, having specified the work to be done, having stated that the bids would be received by the City Clerk until o'clock M. on April 30, 1981, at which time they would be publicly opened in the City Hall by the City Clerk and McCombs/Knutson and Associates, Inc., tabulated, and considered by the City Council on May 5, 1981, in the Council chambers, City Hall, City of Medina; the said ad- vertisement further provided that no bid would be considered unless sealed and filed with the Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the Clerk for five (5%) per cent of the amount of the bid; and WHEREAS, pursuant to said advertisement for bids, the said bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law and the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Bidder Bond Amt. Blaine, Minnesota 5% WHEREAS, it appears that VIC *-1-0eciv' is the lowest responsible bidder, II$26,661.50 ISo� NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the City Council of the City of Medina, Minnesota, as follows: 1) Approval of the Plans and Specifications, previously given, is hereby reaffirmed; 2) The actions of the City Clerk and McCombs/Knutson & Associates, Inc., in preparing and publishing the adverisement for bids and the tabulation thereof is hereby ratified; 3) The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authoizpd and/lir cted to enter into a contract with (//c-t-c),e, l.0orlso n , in the name of the City of Medina, for the improvement of sidewalks in the Hamel area which lie adjacent to both sides of Hamel Road from Brockton Lane to Hunter Drive, according to the Plans and Specifications heretofore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk; 4) The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders, the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed b the proper parties.
