RE: Agenda Item — Approval of Gift Expenditures
Enclosed please find, for your information and review, correspondence from John
E. Flynn, Town Clerk regarding donations that have been received to date by the "Faire
on the Square 2010" Committee. These donations were given to offset expenditures
related to the "Faire on the Square 2010." Faire on the Square 2010 will be held on
Saturday, September 25, 2010 and this is the eleventh year of this popular event.
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, any
expenditure of gifts of funds needs the approval of the Town Manager and Town
Council.
I respectfully request the attached Resolution approving these gift expenditures be
placed on the August 10, 2010 Town Council Agenda for your consideration.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

Resolution # R — 2010 -
Resolution approving the Acceptance and Expenditure of Gifts of Funds
WHEREAS: from time to time, this community is the beneficiary of a gift donated
towards improving the quality and spirit of its inhabitants lives; and
WHEREAS: the "Faire on the Square 2010" Committee has received a number of
donations that were given to offset expenditures related to the "Faire on the Square 2010"
celebration;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town Council of the City known as
the Town of Watertown, hereby accepts and appropriates, pursuant to Massachusetts
General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, monetary gifts in the amount of $8,500.00
received by the "Faire on the Square 2010" Committee.

I hereby certify that at a regular meeting of the Town Council for which a quorum was
present, the above resolution was adopted by a vote of for, against and
present on August 10, 2010.
