HomeMy Public PortalAbout20091218 BB work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 18, 2009 1 CALL TO ORDER The December 18, 2009, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Carroll ( *12:14 P.M.), Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Medin, Penfold, Scrivner ( *12:10 P.M.), and Struemph Absent: Ferguson and Pope A quorum was present. *Council members who arrived after the meeting was convened. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS UPCOMING MEETINGS & EVENTS: Mayor John Landwehr stated that a Work Session will be held on January 11 to discuss the topic of the sidewalk master plan. Councilman Jim Penfold stated that he would also like to discuss the topic of code enforcement during that meeting. Mayor Landwehr announced that a Council Retreat has been scheduled for Saturday, February 6, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hy -Vee Community Room. He stated it will be for the purpose of both short and long -range planning, and that, although there will not be a place on the agenda for public comments, it is an open meeting to which the media and public are invited. BILLS: 2009 -116 (tattooing) - Questions were asked regarding the zoning of tattoo establishments, as well as state and local licensing of tattoo establishments. Staff will provide the appropriate information prior to Monday night's meeting. 2009 -117 (trash service for indigent citizens) - Information was distributed which indicated that the associated documentation for the bill will be a Memorandum of Understanding rather than a grant agreement. COUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 18, 2009 2 2009 -105 (parking on E. Franklin) - Councilman Jim Penfold asked staff to find out who was notified regarding this issue. 2009 -97 (sidewalk moratorium) - Councilman Dan Klindt stated this will remain on the Informal Calendar. Councilman Dan Klindt explained that a new substitute to Bill 2009 -99 (sidewalk deferrals) is still being discussed with the various affected parties. He asked anyone who had further comments to contact him. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 12:37 P.M.
