HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 2-2012-25A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM THE RAINY DAY FUND TO FIRE PAGERS AND RADIO AND TO POLICE EQUIPMENT TO MEET FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION (FCC) REQUIREMENTS OF THE GREENCASTLE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WHEREAS, in December 2004, the Federal Communications Commission mandated that all private LMR (Land Mobile Radio) users, whose systems operate below 512 MHz implement systems and subscriber equipment that support 12.5 kHz narrowband voice channels; and WHEREAS, the term "narrowbanding" has, over time, become synonymous with the above requirements of the FCC that on or before January 1, 2013, "all existing licensees on the VHF and UHF spectrum that meets a specific efficiency standard. "; and WHEREAS, the Greencastle Fire Department and the Greencastle Police Department conducted a radio audit to determine our radio needs in both city departments and found that replacements were needed for four mobile radios, forty -two portable batteries, six IMPRES Multi -unit conditioners and programming of the existing radios.
