COMMON COUNCIL
CITY OF GREENCASTLE,INDIANA
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING
THE DEPAUW WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE
2013 DIVISION III NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
WHEREAS, the DePauw University Women's Basketball Team won the NCAA Division III
National Championship on March 16, 2013 with a 69-51 win over the University of Wisconsin-
Whitewater; and
WHEREAS, the DePauw University Women's Basketball Team completed the 2012-2013 season
undefeated and found a place in the record book as the only team with 34 wins in a season; and
WHEREAS, Senior members of.the team vvon their 1.12th career game in Holland, Michigan, the
most in DePauw's history; and ..
WHEREAS, Ellie Pearson was named Most Outstanding Player of the Finals,while Kate Walker
joined Pearson on the all-tournament team; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Kris Huffman has led the Tigers to two NCAA Division III
Championships,and has 466 career wins or a winning rate of.820 in her twenty years with DePauw
University; and
WHEREAS, Coach Huffman will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame on April
27, 2013, making her players, her coaching staff, DePauw administration,alumni and students, as
well as the citizens of Greencastle proud to have participated and shared in her success and career.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE GREENCASTLE COMMON
COUNCIL congratulates the players and coaches ofthe DePauw Women's Basketball team for their
outstanding season and stellar national championship, and thanks them for being such honorable
citizens of our community through their accomplishments, mentoring and community service.
PASSED AND RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City ofGreencastle at its regular
meeting this 9th day of April 2013.
