- .RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CQUNCI'L OF THE CITY ~ OF
. LYNWOOD APPROVING THE APPROPRIATION OF $95,000
FROM THE LANDSCAPE ASSESSMENT DISTRICT AND
` $205,000 FROM GAS TAX •FUND FOR THE TREE TRIMMING
. ~ ~ PROGRAM".
i ~~ WHEREAS, the City generally follows. a .four year cycle for its tree trimming `~
program; and
- ~ ~ _ .
. ~ WHEREAS, the agreement for, the tree trimming service was terminated in 1998; -
and
WHEREAS, the termination .has caused delay in the tree trimming schedule; and
- WHEREAS, the City has received 787 complaints ;from January 1998 -August
2000 which ~ is the rate of 25 complaints per month as oppose to 14 complaints per
.month in 1997; and
- WHEREAS, to minimize the number of complaints and liability claims related to
City trees; additional funds-are. needed to get. back to the normal four year tree trimming `
cycle.
NOW,~THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD, ,STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY. RESOLVE, DECLARE,
DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOW: '
SECTION 1. That the City Council authorizes the appropriation of $95,000 from
_ the. Landscape Assessment District:.
SECTIO
N 2.. That the City Council authorizes the appropriation of $205,000
~. ~ from the Gas Tax fund.
' SECTION 3. ,That-the City Council authorizes the City Manager or his designee
to :proceed immediately with emergency trimming through an outside vendor with
informal bidding;for an amount not to exceed $50,000.
' SECTION 4. That the City Council authorizes-the City Manager or is designee
- to pursue negotiation with a vendor to handle the remaining tree trimming service for
' ~ ~ FY 2000-01.
• _ SECTION 5. That this resolution-shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. ~ '
