RESOLUTION NO. 2000.151
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE BUREAU OF
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE (BJA) FOR A FY 2000 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM; 2) AUTHORIZING AND EMPOWERING THE
CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO EXECUTE IN THE NAME OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD ALL NECESSARY APPLICATIONS, CONTRACTS,
PAYMENT. REQUESTS, AGREEMENTS AND AMENDMENTS HERETO FOR
THE PURPOSES OF SECURING GRANT FUNDS AND TO IMPLEMENT AND
CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES SPECIFIED IN THE APPLICATION; 3) TO
APPROPRIATE $30,128 FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED GENERAL FUND OR
OTHER SOURCES TO PROVIDE THE CASH MATCH REQUIREMENT; AND 4)
AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ..ORGANIZE THE.ADVISORY
BOARD
WHEREAS, the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLEBG) Program provides units of
local government with funds to underwrite projects designed to reduce crime and improve public
safety.
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice. Assistance (BJA), U.S. Department of Justice
administers the LLEBG Program; and
WHEREAS, the LLEBG Program funds, provide needed support for the City to increase
the amount being spent on reducing crime and improving public safety.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT .RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOW:
SECTION 1. That the City Council authorizes the submittal of an application to the
Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) for a FY 2000 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program.
- SECTION 2. That the City Council authorizes and empowers the City Manager or his
designee, to execute in the name of the City of Lynwood all necessary applications; contracts,
payment requests, agreements and amendments hereto for the purposes of securing grant funds
and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the application.
SECTION 3. That the City Council authorizes the appropriation of $30,128 from the
unappropriated general fund or other sources to provide the cash match requirement.
SECTION 4. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to form a Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant Advisory Board.
SECTION 5. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
