HomeMy Public PortalAbout20100412 work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 12, 2010 1 CALL TO ORDER The April 12, 2010, Council Work Session was convened at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Carroll, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Medin, Pope, Penfold, Struemph, Scrivner Absent: Ferguson A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS MoDOT Report on Whitton Expressway Plan Mr. Roger Schwartze of MoDOT introduced Mr. Mike Dusenberg who explained the impact of the Parkway Plan if implemented. The presentation included several maps and drawings explaining the Parkway Plan. Following his presentation, several questions were asked by the Mayor and City Council. Mayor John Landwehr suggested a Iist of mitigating techniques and visuals showing exactly what a viaduct would look like as described by Mr. Dusenberg. Sewer Bond Issues Mr. Eric Seaman, Waste Water Division Director, made a presentation regarding proposed sewer bond issues. Following his presentation, Councilman Jim Penfold stated that the Public Works & Planning Committee will continue to work on the issue in more detail. Transit Issues City Planner Janice McMillan made a presentation explaining the loss of Transit revenue due to the fact that the State of Missouri no longer contracts for a shuttle service. Discussion was held regarding test routes and alternative options to offset the loss of revenue and ridership. Mayor John Landwehr asked staff to let the Council know what the figures presented would be if the City does nothing. The Council requested more information to be presented on this issue in the near future before making any decisions. COUNCIL WORK SESSION APRIL 12, 2010 2 Bio- Diesel Usage Assistant Community Director Charles Lansford made a presentation regarding the impacts to the budget and city vehicles as a result of the usage of bio- diesel during a recent test period. Following his presentation, he answered several questions, and stated he would get more information to the Council on this issue during the upcoming budget season. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Councilman Ron Medin, seconded by Councilman Rich Koon, to adjourn, and was approved unanimously at 7:40 P.M.
