THosP present were Mayor Storer, Douglas Hansen, Hubert Rockwood, John Elliott., Kenneth Gerard and Clerk D. C. Bodily. Mayor Storer presided. The following residents attended. Tom Smith, Dean Huntln ing, Edna Gerard, Dale Buchanan, WM Denning-, Dick Clark, Glen Clark, Dick Denning, and Lane emming. The minutes of March meeting was read, corrected and approved. Mayor Storer commented on the operation of the present water system. 2 PM Friday April 9, 197i 1,ras declared by governor Andrus as"prisoner of war Day" and the Mayor asked that we all stop for a moment of silent prayer for those serving in Viet Nam. Jean Hunting asked the city for some helr to pre -rent vehicle speeding within the city. After some discussion it was suggested that Dean Hunting be appointed to seek several alternates for speed control. Tom Smith raised the question about the 5fl feet east west road way on the north end of the original town site and asked if the City could deed it back to the adjacent property owners. The general fdeling was that the roadway would not be opened and it is tax free and can be used without cost to the property owners akjacent to it. The matter was tabled Lane Hemming and Dick Denning was asked by the Mayor to outline the sumer taw baseball program for boys. The board agreed to support the little league and several potential sponsord were suggested. Vern Christensen had requested a building permit to cons- truct a building next to the property line of Tom Smith. Building code calls for at least 5 feet be allowed between, the same. Tom Smith and the Board agreed to abide by the code. Meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM CITY OF TONA BCA RD MEETING May 13, 1971. City of Iona board meeting held at the city fire house commencing at 8:00 PM. Those present were Mayor Storer, Douglas Hansen, John Elliott, Hubert Rockwood and Clerk D. C. Bodily. Mayor Storer presided. - John Elliott raised the question of James Briggs building a a fence on City property south of his property line; the board agreed that if it is to be a permanent fence he should build it on the property line. The Mayor reported that Dennis Bateman could be hired on a. part part time basis as a city patrolman. After some discussion Iiubert Rockwood made a motion to hire Dennis Bateman .for a part time patrolman for the city at the monthly rate of $75.00 per month plus 10 cents per mile plus the city furnish false arrest insurance. John Elliott seconded the motion and others aprroved. The Mayor swore Mr. Bateman in as city patrolman. John Elliott gave the clerk $6 .G0 for -a building permit for Vern Christensen. The matter of the 50 feet east west road way on the northend of t end of the_ori;inal town site was tabled. The board agreed that all boys working on the ditches be paid at the rate of $1.50 per hour. The following bills were ordered paid. Those present were Mgyor Storer, John Elliott, Douglas Hansen and Clerk D. C. Bodily Yubert Rockwood was excused while on vacation. The minutes of the May and June meetings were read and approves ed and the bills paid in June were officially approved as paid. The unit price bids were as follows Howard Andrews $11,485.00, Cushman & Denning $12,309.751 Cope $12,660.00. After review and discussion Douglas Hansen made a motion that the bid be awarded to Howard Andrew. John Elliott 2nded the motion and the Mayor approved. Meeting adjourned at 9:45 PM Cle`r CITY OF IONA BOARD MEETING August 12,1971 Monthly Board meeting held at the City fire houses commencing at 8:07 PM. with Mayor Storer presiding. Minutes were read and approved of the previous meeting held July 8, 1971. Board members present were W. A. Storer, John Elliott, Douglas Jansen, and Hubert Rockwood and William Bradley, - Discussed the possibility of buying a porta pack for fire s fighting use. Douglas Hansen made amotion to purchase same. John Elliott 2nded the motion and all approved. Approximate cost $345.f Complaints from Harold Steele - Irwin Spencer has to many horses for the sizes of lot. Hubert Rockwood complained - Dutch Rose running a junk yardand Gerald Miller to many horses for size 000 of lot, and Dutch Rose's dogs barking in the neighborhood at dight Devere Hansen complained - of Henry Boyington house trailer in violation of ordinance. The Clerk was asked to send a registered letter advising the following people are vioators df ordinances. Dutch Rose, Running a junk yard. Iiiterested citizensattending were Chad Stanger, Roy Stoddard, Mrs. Marvin Spracklen, DeVere Hansen, The purpose of the meeting to hear proposed change of the Zoning Ordinance from R1 to TC on the koy Stoddard property. Roy Stoddard property has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sprackle. Devere Hansen feels if zoning were changed here others would have the same peropative. Chad Stanger said if zoning is changed people will be able to park as many as 8 torailers per acre. If permission is granted other would feel they have the same right. John Elliott stated that if permission is granted then if the property changes hands they would be free to install a trailer court. Mr. Hyrum Reese, Zoning commissioner of Bonneville County was present to 41.0 explain the zoning ordinance. Those present were Mayor Storer, Hubert Rockwood, Kenneth Gerard and Clerk D. C. Bodily. The minutes of the August 14h meeting was read and approved. The Mayor stated that Devere Hansen had withdrawn his complaint about the neighbors trailer home. The Clerk reported on the re- quest to send notices to those violating ordinances of the city. Due to legal advice was advised to work with an attorney on such matters. The Clerk was directed to consult the city attorney and have a letter sent to JerryHansen as a violator to the city zoning ordinance #29. The Mayor reported that the new well on the hill is down to 230 feet and continuing. The board approved a request by the Mtn Bell to bury a cable on the south side of Owens ave. The Board all agreed that it was the peoples choice to retain R1 zoning in the case of Roy Stoddard property, They were seeking a zoning change to park a trailer home on the property. The board reviewed the electi(n returns and Douglas Haiden made motion to accept the returns as reported. Kenneth Gerard 2nded the motion others appooved. Mayor Storer stated that Mr. Spracklen has again requested. that the board allow trailer homes in the city. The board agreed to uphold and enforce the present zoning ordinance. The Mayor reported that the radar unit had beeh receives.
