A RESOLUTION~OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
COMMITTING TO SUPPORT EFFORTS TO ASSIST HIV/AIDS ORPHANS IN
UGANDA
WHEREAS, the t/ynwood pity Council is aware that the HIV/AIDS problem in
Africa has reached epic proportions with 36 million Africans living with HIV/AIDS; and
WHEREAS; there is a tremendous orphan problem in Africa, with over 13 million
orphans resulting from the devastating HIV/AIDS epidemic; and
' WHEREAS, the Lynwood City Council, because of its knowledge of the
Samalitan Christian Children's Fund, Inc., desires to adopt and execute a resolution to
help the orphans of Uganda by supporting efforts to provide food, clothing, medical care,
and education to them; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY
OF LYNWOOD; STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE,
DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council.approvesthe adoption and executive. of this
resolution and authorizes the Mayor to execute said resolution on behalf of the City of
Lynwood. _
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of October,
2000.
