A RESOLUTION' OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
ACKNOWLEDGING THAT HIV/AIDS HAS CAUSED AN EMERGENCY
SITUATION IN UGANDA AND THAT THE RESULTING MILLIONS OF
ORPHANS NEED HELP

_ , WHEREAS, the Lynwood City Council is aware that in 16 countries in
Africa more than one-tenth of the adult population is infected with HIV/Aids; and
WHEREAS, in Uganda specifically, strong prevention. programs has
helped to bring down the rate persons dying from HIV/AIDS from 14% in the
early 1990's to nearly 8% today; and
WHEREAS, even with these. prevention measures HIV/AIDS continues to
be a threat to mankind and is killing millions of Ugandans and causing millions of
orphans to fend for themselves, and/or shoulder adult responsibilities; and
WHEREAS,. the City of Lynwood desires to adopt and execute a
resolution to help the orphans of Uganda by providing moray support
endorsements, introductions and networking opportunities to Samalitan Christian
Children's Fund, Incorporated,' anon-profit organization committed to giving
children -hope;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER THE FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Lynwood City Council, approves the adoption and
executive of the resolution herein, authorizing the Mayor to execute the said
' - resolution on behalf of the City of Lynwood.
