RESOLUTION

Whereas the Hennepin County Board is considering 180 acres
within Baker Park as a landfill site to be submitted to the
Metro Council ;
Whereas, the Medina City Council has from time to time discussed
the desirability of locating a sanitary landfill in areas of
Medina used for Park purposes; and
Whereas, residents of Medina have expressed concern to the City
about the use of a park for a sanitary landfill;
Therefore be it resolved that the city of Medina is opposed to
the location of a sanitary landfill in Baker Park or in any
other area of Medina designated for park purposes.
Further resolved that the zoning code of the city of Medina
does not permit the use of the park property for a landfill.
Further resolved that the City of Medina has already a
landfill with a forty acre expansion request before the city,
(190 acres of land in Medina is already owned by a sanitary
landfill operator, and is currently being used today).
Adopted by the Medina City Council on February 2, 1982.
