Driscoll, Town Manager Date: May 2, 2012 RE: Agenda Item — Approval of Gift Expenditures Enclosed please find correspondence from Gina M. Rada, Veterans' Services Officer regarding donations that have been received to date by the Memorial Day Parade 2012 Committee. These donations were given to offset expenditures related to the Memorial Day Parade. The Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, any expenditure of gifts of funds needs the approval of the Town Manager and Town Council. I respectfully request the attached Resolution approving these gift expenditures be placed on the May 8, 2012 Town Council Agenda for your consideration. Rada, Veterans' Services Officer Date: May 2, 2012 RE: Memorial Day Parade Donations Please be advised that as of this date the Memorial Day Parade Committee has received the following generous donations: Watertown Savings Bank Watertown Mall Toyota of Watertown Mitchell Properties LLC Randy's Car Wash, Inc. $250.00 $ 50.00 $250.00 $100.00 $ 50.00 $700.00 Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, any expenditure of gift funds needs the approval of the Town Manager and Town Council. I am requesting your assistance in placing these gift expenditures before the Honorable Town Council for its review and action at its meeting scheduled for May 8, 2012. Resolution # R — 2012 - Resolution approving the Acceptance and Expenditure of Gifts of Funds WHEREAS: from time to time, this community is the beneficiary of a gift donated towards improving the quality and spirit of its inhabitants lives; and WHEREAS: the Memorial Day Parade Committee has received a number of donations that were given to offset expenditures related to the Memorial Day Parade; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown, hereby accepts and appropriates, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A, monetary gifts in the amount of $700.00 received by the Memorial Day Parade Committee.
