Salary increases were brought up. It was decided to raise
Ross Johnson to 1300.00---Alice-,Bodily to 400.00per month
5.50 per hour for extra help. Glen Clark motioned this be
be accepted, Hubert Rockwood seconded the motion.
Mayor suggested Ross Johnson get a 250.00 bonus in lieu of
a vacation.. Dee Armstrong motioned this be accepted and
Glen Clark seconded the mgtion.

Mayor reported th a fuel pump was working beautifully
on fire truck.
Julie Haws presented the 1979-80 audit. Reported the city
to be in a good financial position.
Glen Clark motioned the audit be accepted as presented
Dee Armstrong seconded the motion.
Mayor reported there were a total of 10 calls to Iona
Fire Dept.- -Mutual aid given -Mutual aid received 3

due to sewer settling --It was decided to lend bill to Sewer

MINUTES OF IONA CITY BOARD MEETING Feb. 18,1980 8 P.M.
Minutes of Jan. meeting were read -and -approved. Glen Clark
motioned they be accepted as read and John Elliott seconded
the motion, Those present were W. R, *torer, Glen Clark,
John Elliott, Dee Armstrong, Hubert Rockwood, Alice Bodily
Boyd Getsinger, visiting. (clerk)
Boyd Getsinger complained about cattlemen were negligent
with livestock, asked if there was an ordinance to control
this. Mayor reported there was not one. Complained of
burning trash in the city wondered if it could be controlled.
Hubert Rockwood and Bill Storer asked to have their.
insurance cancelled,with P. E. R. S.
Mayor brought up equipment bldg..in square. Possee is.p
pressing to .have it placed in square. Dee Armstrong motioned
the bldg. not be allowed,on square, John Elliott seconded
the motion . Board were all in agreement.'
Mayor brought up liability insurance. He felt there were
not enough bids yet to make a decision: It was tabled until
later. Clerk requested that a $5.00 charge --be made on all
returned checks. Hubert Rockwood made the motion this be
accepted John Elliott seconded the motion.
It was decided to raise the cost of machine hire to $20.00
and hour and this to be a mimium charge #) 5.00. Dee Armstron.

Minutes of Feb. mtg. were read and approved. Dee Armstrong
motioned they be approved, Glen Clark seconded the motion.

The 410,780.00 deficit of water was raised. Different
alternatived were discussed, 1- Raise water rates 2-Summer
rates 3- Ordinance to control watering of pastures & lots.
Board decided to draw up an ordinance to control water.
John Elliott motioned this be accepted, Hubett Rockwood
seconded the motion. Mayor #o work on it.
Mayor reporetd grafflel from the county would be $1.80 per
ton.

Mayor brought up fact police offecers wuold like a 12 gauge

buy it.

to have it worked on.

Mayor discussed a clean up day, it was decided May 2nd.
A sidewalk was discussed on theeastside of streetfrom
Owens to the post off&ce.for school children. Board to check
into it.
Dee Armstrong ask the approval of the board to pay Jim Bird
$2,400.00 for his work with Little League. Board approved.

Minutes of the March mtg. were read and approved. Dee

Visiting: Cleon Joned and Barbara Beck.
Cleon Jones asked permission to use water drainage from waikw
ter tank. Baoard approved.
Barbara brought up fact there are dangerous trees on
the north of her lot, asked board's assistance -in getting
them down. Complained of lot east of her as a fire hazard
felt it should be burned by city and charged to owner. Com*
plained of Jimmy Walker flashing spot in.her window.
Board discussed odd & even watering days ordinance.
Maypr said he added stipulation on size of garden(1a,000sq,tt.
Mayor brought up fact of summer rates to help offset
water deficit . Glen Clark proposed the water rate be raised
to $10.00 a month. The school be raised to $50.00 a month
and_church be raised to $25.00 a month.This to begin May 1.
John Elliott secnded the notion. Clerk to send notice to
wafter patrons.

Mayor reported trees by Barbara Beck were cut down & will

Water contract for service to Verl Haderlie was approved.

Ordinance #35 on controlling ater usage was read by mayor.
Glen Clark motioned theordinance be accepted as read, Dee
Armstrong seceonded the motion. Day for ordinance to be in
effect here discudded. It was decided duration should be June 1
to Sept. 1.

Minutes of the June meeting were read and approved. Hohn Ell;;
iott motioned, Dee Armstrong seconded the motion.
Mayor brought up budget for 1982. Discussed items to accomp-
lish. Sidewalk for school children was discussed, John
Elliott was asked to contact a cement contractoy , Glen Clark
and Hubert Rockwood to contact.also.
Seal -coating the roads was discussed, it was decided to
budget for that.
Little League wa:. discussed and tabled until later.
A screw type head gate on feeder ditch north of town
was discussed. It was decided to put one in.

Minutes of August meeting were read and approved. Dee Arm. -
strong motioned they be approved Glen Clark Sconded the mo-
tion.
Mayor reported problem of water on 3rd street was taken care
of.
Lease agreement between Ralph Steele & Lucille Steele & city
was discussed. Glen Clark motioned it be accepted as drawn
up, Dee Armstrong seconded the motion. All the board voted
approval.
Mayor reported Jim Walker had a strobe light that could be
purchased for the pick-up for 450.00. The decision was made
to buy it.
