Dee Armstrong they be approved Hubert Rockwood seconded themotmon. Those present: W.A. Stoeee, Dee Armstrong, Hubert Rockwood, Karen Hansen, Ron Nelson, Alice Bodily, Clerk Visiting; Diana, Dane, Marta Nelson and Dana Tyler. Mayor gave the oath of office to new cuoncilmen, Karen Hansen Dee Armstrong was elected council New dept. assignments were made: Parks & Recreation Streets & Equipment Water Fire & Police Bldg & Zoning and Civil Defense Rep. Mayor presente the fact that the city attorney felt the ordinance on cabl TV should be revised and presented in another month City of Ammon and Vo,Tech school are presenting a 10 week fire school course. Wanted board to get as many as they could to take this course, the cost will be very minimul to city. County dog catcher is working in Iona and is enforcing the county dog ordinance in Iona. Mayor asked councilmen if..ihey wanted it retained as it is.. Hubert Rockwood motioned that it be retained, Ron Nelson seconded the motion. Fire dispatch charge of 50.00 permonth from city of Idaho Falls discussed. Mayor asked approval to investigate and negotiate price for dispatch. The city is still desirous to retain the service. Mayor asked permission to have some one help Ross during heavy clean-up time. Karen Hansen motioned this be done, Dee Armstrong seconded the motion. $5.00 per hour is to be the wage. Clean-up week was discussed, Organized into 4 primary areas] in the city, each supervised -by a couple living in that area.. A truck was needed for each area. Karen Hansen asked permission for incentive prizes. A stamp to advertise on water statements was discussed , clerk to follow through. Dee Armstrong motioned they be approved and Ron Nelson seconded the motion. Those present: W. A. Storer, Dee Armstrong, Hubert Rockwood, Ron Nelson, Karen Hansen, Alice B odily, City Clerk Visiting:Ethel Haddon Ethel Haddon expreesed concern about ditch in front of her place. It needs cleaning and worked on some. City will check and'.help what they can. Anna Simpson said there was a problem in ditch near her lot. Bonneville Art Ass. reques ted65.00 to help with art supplies for their Children's art work shop. Hubert Rockwood motioned, Dee Armstrong seconded the motion. All were in favob. George Perez felt his animal impounding fee was excessive, asked board to decide if partof, or all of the fee should be returned. Dee Armstrong motioned the city refuse his request, Ron Nelson seconded th motion. Dee further steated that the city give warn that the impounding fee will be put into effeet when ever his err/ horses are out. Mayor stated the Fire District had bought a new truck. There is a good chance the city could use the old one if housing were made available for it. Mayor will pursue it. Larry Dustonr Paul Scholesr Alan Dutson, J oe Dutson, Karen Hansen reported on Iona clean up week. Reported 6 large loads and 2 pick up loads were hauled off. Felt it was a success and has created more civic pride in k eeping things cleaned up. Faun Larsen requested city to pay for exrenses on pipe replacement for line into his house because he couldn't find a leak on his property. Board wasn't inclined to reimburse him. Felt they weren't responsible. Mayor reported there was a good chance to get the fire truck from fire district. We'll pursue getting housing for it. Minutes of June meeting were read and approved. Dee Armstrong motioned, Ron Nelsen se(-onded. Those: Present : W.A. Storer, Dee Armstrong, Hubert Rockwood, Ron Nelson, Karen Hansen, Alice Bodily clerk. Karen Hansen reported on neighborhood watch program. Felt all was in good progress. Just about organized so it can function Felt it would bring good results in controling crime in the city.. Iona Possie seeking permission to put small building for equip- ment on square near riding arena. After discussing the iros anj cons Ron Nelson motioned based on condition it be reviewed each year and that it be painted. Karen Hansen seconded. 3 voted in favor, I abstained from voting. Budget was discussed. Mayor asked board to thing on priority projects. Projects to consider: sidewalk on Owens south side from 2nd street to school and other sidewalks. More street lira c Mower to cut weeds on silo of roads, upkeep on water storage tank on hill, pump on east of firehouse back in operation, warning system for civil defense. Mayor brought up the extra insurance charged to the city board felt that if shouldn't be paid. Mayor to pursue it. Wayne Griffin asked permission to put banner over road July, on Owens by a 12 store. Board ill take under consideration. Clerk to take poll of council and letter to zoning and planning commission. In discussing budget, Ron Nelson felt installation of new street lights important after discussion it was felt there should be 4 new lights be installed in Scoresby addition, Dee Armstron made the motion to approve the tentative budget of $117,155.00 in- cluding 4 street lights. `ton Nelson seconded. Mayor reported the neighborhood watch signa were up and the four street lights installed in Scoresby addition. Karen Hansel reported the neighborhood watch meetings will be held on Tues. in 4.ieu of Thurs. Bee Dolan concerned about alley running behind her lot. _Supposed to be closed, not all deeds from city to landowners - have not been recorded. Mayor assured her the alley was consi- dered closed. Mary and Thomas Barnes asked permission to put a manufactured home on the one of Bee Dolan's lots. Board could see no problems. Karen Hansen concerned about radar. on police car. Also a- bout wages to Dennis Bateman. Felt we should get radar fixed or get a new one. Board felt Dennis should submit a peport on his policing activities to the board so th board can review it at board meeting and determine if he should be paid for the month.
