HomeMy Public PortalAbout1977-05-10 MeetingMay 10, 1977 The Council of Bal Harbour Vil.lege met Tuesday, May, 10, 1977 at 10:00 A. M. in the Village Hall. Present: Messrs. Beatty, Printup and Tapli.n Also present were Fred W. Maley, Vi]lage Manager; and Mary T. Wetterer, Village Clerk. Mr. George Smith of Stresau, Smith and Stresau presented sketches of proposed landscaping for the oceanfront. After discussion it was suggested that the hotel representatives make an effort to review the plans and the item will be discussed again at the meeting on May 31st. A resolution requesting that Bat Harbour Village be included in the Florida House of Representatives Bill No. 417 and house Resolution No. 942, relating to casino gambling in the City of riami Beach was read by the Village Cler!c. After discussion it was moved by Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Taolin and voted that Bal Harbour Village did not wish to be included in the Bills. Mr. Maley reported that the library services being furnished us by the Town of Surfside are substandard in the opinion of our representatives on the Library Board. Mr Maley was authorized to negotiate with the City of Miami Beach or Dade County for library services. The Village Manager said that the remodeled village hall needed to be landscaped, and requested that the cost be taken from the Tourism Department is the completion of 96th Street landscaping. He said Russell Landscape Co., the low bidder of 96th Street and `a( st Bal Harbour Boulevard had ;riven him a price of $9,300.nn. It was moved by Mr. Taplin, seconded by Mr. Beatty and voted that formal bids be waived and the work be: given to Russell Landscape for the stated price.
