CALL TO ORDER
The Council "Pre- Meeting" Work Session of July 21, 2008, was convened at 5:47 P.M. by
Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Carroll, Crane, *Ferguson (arrived at 5:55 P.M.), Harvey, Koon, Layton,
Medin, and Penfold
Absent: Klindt
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Amendment to agenda: Mayor John Landwehr stated he would entertain a motion to
amend the agenda during the beginning of the Regular meeting to add a presentation by
Garfield -Traub about the conference center project.
City Administrator Steve Rasmussen asked if the Finance / Budget Committee hearings had
been scheduled yet. Finance Director Steve Schlueter stated a tentative schedule had been
distributed and the Finance Committee would be finalizing it shortly.
*Councilman Kenneth Ferguson arrived at this point in the meeting (5:55 P.M.)
Councilman Brian Crane stated he thinks any Council action taken on the tax levy should
appear on JCTV.
Following discussion of dates for the tax levy issue , the following schedule was established:
August 11 - Special Council meeting at which the bill setting the tax levy rate will be
introduced.
August 18 - Regular Council meeting at which the public hearing and final vote on
the tax levy rate will occur.
Staff was asked to prepare the public notices accordingly.
The meeting adjourned at 6:02 P.M.
