CALL TO ORDER
The August 1, 2008, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by Mayor
John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Carroll, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Layton, Medin, and
Penfold
Absent: None
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Election of Third Ward Council Member: Discussion was held regarding the process for
electing the Third Ward Council Member. City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus advised that the
election will have to be performed by roll -call vote rather than written ballots.
Announcements of Upcoming Meetings & Events:
Councilman Brian Crane will announce a meeting of the Conference Center ad hoc
committee.
Councilman Rich Koon will announce a meeting of the ad hoc Mill Bottom Site Committee
scheduled for August 18, and will announce the date which the RFP on the Visitors' Center
will go out.
Councilman Brian Crane will announce a meeting of the JCTV Steering Committee for
August 7.
Appointments: Mayor John Landwehr stated if anyone has any problems with the
proposed endorsement of Lee Tharp's appointment to the Missouri River Recovery
Implementation Committee to please let him know before Monday night's meeting.
Bills Introduced:
2008 -40 and 2008 -43 (supplemental appropriations) - Mayor John Landwehr will ask
COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 1, 2008 2
Finance Director Steve Schlueter to give a report Monday night on the status of the fund
balance after these two bills are approved.
