A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY DF LYNWOOD
~ AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATIONS OF .$135,000 FOR THE
SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT A MONTHLY `DUI
t CHECKPOINT FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS AND TO CONDUCT
ANTI-CRUISING OPERATIONS.F,OR THE NEXT S,IX (6) MONTHS
WHEREAS, the Sheriffs Department is charged with providing law enforcement services
to the City; and ~_
WHEREAS, the Sheriffs Department reported continued cruising problems in the City
and recommends law enforcement whits be deployed to coritrol° the cruising problems, and
WHEREAS, the .Sheriffs Department reported the effectiveness of DUI checkpoints in
controlling drunk drivers and unlicensed drivers in Lynwood, and
WHEREAS, the Sheriffs Department was able to utilize grants and co-sharing measures
with other agencies to .provide anti-cruising and DUI checkpoints operations and will continue to
seek grants to defray the costs for these operations,. and
WHEREAS, additioria! appropriations is necessary to carry through these operations.
NOW THEREFORE, ' BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE
AND ORDER AS FOLLOW: ~ ~~
SECTION"1. That the City Council .authorizes the appropriations of $135,000
SECTION 2. That the City Council authorizes the City Manager or his designee to
i utilize grant funds from 8rulte and Local Law Enforcement Block Grant that have ,not been
! , encumbered, unappropriated law enforcement seizure ,funds, and unappropriated general fund to
pay for these services.

,. ._ SECTION 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
