HomeMy Public PortalAbout2022-30 Confirming the Village's ability to fund and support the permitting, design, construction and monitoring of the Village's Beach RenourishmentRESOLUTION NO. 2022-30 A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING THE VILLAGE'S ABILITY TO FUND AND SUPPORT THE PERMITTING, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND MONITORING OF THE VILLAGE'S BEACH RENOURISHMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne ("Village") is the entity responsible for the maintenance and preservation of the beach adjacent to the Village that is the subject of the Village's Beach Renourishment Project (the "Project"); and WHEREAS, the Village recognizes the significant economic, recreational, environmental, and shore protection value that beach renourishment has provided since 1987 and continues to provide today; and WHEREAS, the Village supports the permitting, design, construction, and monitoring of the Project, which is located approximately between Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Monuments R101and R108 in Miami -Dade County, Florida; and WHEREAS, the Village is willing to serve as the local sponsor for the Project and commits to appropriating full funding of the local share of a state approved project in its capital improvement budget for the design and permitting phase of the Project anticipated to begin in Fiscal Year 2024/2025; and WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne Village Council has determined that the Project and the adoption of this Resolution are in the best interest of the Village and its residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Recitals. That each of the above -stated recitals are hereby adopted, confirmed, and incorporated herein. Section 2. Funding of Project. The Village confirms that it shall provide the balance of any funding required for the permitting, design, construction, and monitoring of the Project that is not funded by Miami -Dade County, FEMA, or by the State of Florida.
