A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF APPROVING
AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AND THOMAS &
ASSOCIATES TO ESTABLISH AND MANAGE A SOLID WASTE AND
RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
WHEREAS, in December, 1997, the City exercised its option not to extend its
agreement for contract waste and recycling services with Waste Management formerly
Western/USA Waste Services Inc (the "Current Waste and Recycling Agreement")., and
WHEREAS, as of December 31, 2002 the current Waste and Recycling Agreement will
t expire; and -'
-- WHEREAS, the City now desires to better serve the residents of Lynwood by providing
its own waste and recycling program, and
WHEREAS, Thomas & Associates has assembled a team of professionals with
necessary experience to establish and manage residential and commercial waste and recycling
programs, and
WHEREAS, City desires Thomas & Associates to establish and manage residential and
commercial waste and recycling program on rts behalf
NOW, THEREFORE, the CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS. ~{
SECTION 1. That the City Council approves the Agreement between the City of
Lynwood and Thomas & Associates to establish and manage a solid waste and recycling program
.for the City of Lynwood.
SECTION 2.That the.City Council authorizes the Mayor to sign the Agreement between
the City of Lynwood and Thomas & Associates to establish and manage a solid waste and
recycling program 'for the City of Lynwood.
1 SECTION 3. That the City Council approves the appropriation from the unappropriated
j general fund to pay for. these services and approves- the appropriation on future revenues received
from waste collection and recycling services.
SECTION 4. That this resolution shall go into..effect immediately upon adoption.
