CALL TO ORDER
The August 15, 2008, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:00 P.M. by President
Pro Tempore Kenneth Ferguson in the absence of Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Carroll, Crane, Ferguson, Harvey, Klindt (arrived at 12:30 P.M.), Koon,
Layton, Medin, and Penfold
Absent: Klindt* (see above)
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Councilman Brian Crane will announce a meeting of the Conference Center Design &
Construction ad hoc Committee which will be held sometime the week of August 18, and
that staff will be contacting the Committee regarding the best day for the meeting. He will
announce that date at Monday night's meeting.
Councilwoman Carrie Carroll asked for information about the vehicle take -home policy
which has been discussed in the past few days and wants to insure that emergencies in the
city will not be affected by the new policy.
Police Chief Roger Schroeder asked Councilwoman Carrie Carroll if discussing emergency
response vehicles at the August 29 Public Safety Committee meeting would be sufficient.
She stated that would be acceptable, and that she would like to see any emails in advance
of that meeting to allow a chance for Council Members to discuss the issue. Police Chief
Roger Schroeder stated he would place that item on the August 29 agenda.
Councilwoman Carrie Carroll stated she would like to see Captain Doug Shoemaker and
Firefighter Ryan Carrender recognized for their recent participation in an event to raise
funds for the local Boys' and Girls' Club. The City Clerk was asked to take care of getting
that arranged. Community Development Director Pat Sullivan suggested placing it under
Miscellaneous Agenda Items.
*Councilman Dan Klindt arrived at the meeting at this point (12:30 P.M.).
The meeting adjourned at 12:30 P.M.
