CALL TO ORDER
The September 12, 2008, "Brown Bag" Work Session was convened at 12:05 P.M. by
Mayor John Landwehr.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: *Carroll (arrived at 12:10), Crane, Harvey, Klindt, Koon, Layton, Medin,
Penfold, and Randolph
Absent: Ferguson
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Ward Three Candidate Public Forum - Discussion was held regarding the schedule for
holding the Ward Three candidates' public forum to fill the vacancy on the City Council
created by the resignation of Councilman Brian Crane. The Council agreed that the best
time to schedule the forum would be Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
*Councilwoman Carrie Carroll arrived at this point in the meeting (12:10 P.M.)
Upcoming meetings:
Budget Hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 17
Conference Center Design & Construction Committee meeting will be held Friday,
September 19 at 4:00 P.M.
Appointments:
Councilman Ron Medin noted that one name appeared on the list twice. Human Resources
Director Gail Strope stated that the two Human Relations Commission appointments should
not have been submitted as they have not gone through the Administration Committee yet.
The City Clerk will remove those from the agenda before Monday night, as well as correct
the duplication of one name on the list.
Bids over $25,000:

Community Development Director Pat Sullivan distributed information about the parking
vehicle specifications. Councilman Brian Crane asked for information about past
maintenance on the vehicle by email sometime before Monday night's meeting. Councilman
Mike Harvey also wanted to know what condition the vehicle is in now.
Bills Introduced:
2008 -65 — Discussion was held regarding temporary ramps vs. permanent ones. City
Counselor Nathan Nickolaus was asked to clarify Sections 3 and 4 of the bill. Mayor John
Landwehr asked for a matrix showing the interest, schedule of funding, etc. for Monday
night's meeting.
